possible transmission og hebatitis c??
Oct 4, 2009

Dear Dr Barbra, first of all thank you very much for your great work your such a great person, the issue that my mom was diagnosed to be hepatitis c positive and every one in the family got tested and the results come back negative, the other day my uncle got his parrot which have a really sharp claws he was on my mom's hand for about 10 minutes then later after maybe 5 minutes i had it on my hand for about 10 minutes i have noticed some scratches cause of his claws some pink spots on my hand did not notice any visible blood now the other day I've seen and open small blood spot "dried one" on my hand here comes my concern that what if he got a blood from my mom's hand and then his blood comes in contact with mine? I'm really concerned and worried from this should i get tested ? is that a possible route of transmission? any suggestions? I'm looking forward to hear from you soon I'll be more than thankfully

Response from Dr. McGovern

Without obvious blood exposure, I would not pursue testing.
