| Hepatitis C Aug 23, 2009 Hi, I have recently had my medical before employment and has been diagnosed with borderline HCV. The test was HCV Antibody (performed by CMIA) and the result was Borderline (Patient S/CO 1.8). The report shows the Normal Range as follows: <1.0 Negative 1.0 - 5.0 Borderline >5.0 Positive I am confused as how to interpret my results and what further investigation or treatment to undertake. Please advise. Regards, Talib Zaidi |

Response from Dr. McGovern
If you are not at risk for infection, this borderline test may be misleading. I would suggest a HCV RNA test to see if you have virus in your blood or a RIBA test which is a more specific antibody screening test. I would ask about the price of the two tests if you will need to pay directly. | |||||||||
