Response from Dr. McGovern
When a doctor examines a patient, there is assessment of the liver, which lives in the right upper portion of the stomach (abdomen). A doctor will tap and palpate to try to determine the size of the liver. If it is mildly enlarged, he will describe it as "mild hepatomegaly". Mild enlargement of the liver can be from multiple reasons including chronic viral hepatitis, fatty liver, or other causes. | |||||||||
