Hepatitus C Mar 14, 2009 My mother has hepatitus C.she is age of 60.she has diabatics & BP also but now under control. she has completed 1 year course (6 month interferon & 6Month Pegasys ) in 2006. but virus now again activated with SGPT level is 59. I can avoide the again pegasys can u have alternate treatment. |

 I assume that your mother actually got combination therapy in 2006 with Pegasys and ribavirin. If she responded to treatment, but then relapsed off treatment, she would be a good candidate for possible new therapies such as the protease inhibitors, which should be available in approximately 2 to 3 years from now. Trials are pending. Treatment will include all three drugs - PEG, RBV, and the new drug (possibly telaprevir will be first) | |||||||||
