how to get them

can you get hiv or hbv from a puncture wounds, skin contact, and mucous membrane contact

Response from Dr. McGovern

Acquiring HIV or HBV infection usually requires blood to blood contact with an infectious source. There are rare cases of a health care worker being infected from a mucous membrane exposure (eg,splash of an eye). However, most of these cases have been acquired from needlestick injuries, with HBV being more infectious than HIV.
