| HEP C-PEGASUS Feb 29, 2008 Dear Professor, I want your opinion about my brother. He is 47 years old and has the below test results: HCV-RNA (method bDNA) 108.143 iu/ml or 562.344 copies/ml SGOT 45 SGPT 61 ALT 60 GGT 139 BIL 1,1 DBIL 0,3 ALBUMINE 5,1 ANTI-HCV POSITIVE A1 PROTEIN 5,38 CEA 0,9 His doctor here suggest a liver biopsy to see any histological problem and a pegasues treatment (once injection per week) for 48 weeks without pressing him a lot to accept this or any other kind of treatment. Please note that the last 10 years the results are the same especially the GGT. Thank you in advance for you help, Kind Regards Keimani Sophie |

Response from Dr. McGovern
I completely agree with your doctor. I would want to know whether he has liver disease since he has viremia (virus in his blood). None of the other tests will help me determine that. The only therapies available are pegylated interferons and ribavirin, which are taken together. Other therapies are being developed but none are near to market yet. | |||||||||
