|HCV RNA Result
Feb 19, 2008
Dr. McGovern, I had a potential HCV exposure and got a negative HepC antibody result 10.5 weeks post-exposure, and a negative HCV RNA 12 weeks after exposure. Am I HCV negative? Conclusively?

Recommendations are for testing with antibody at 3 months and again at six months. However, in patients who have also had RNA testing, the diagnosis can be made much earlier. In your case, the absence of any detectable viremia at 12 weeks is consistent with no infection. I would not test further.
