suppressing the hb virus
Feb 9, 2008

Dear doctor, I have a chronic hepa b, my lab results are as follows: *TESTS----------PATIENT COUNT-CUT-OFF VALUE----REMARKS *HbsAg----------greater than 3.0--0.108----------------Reactive *Anti-Hbs-------0.041--------------0.105----------------Non-Reactive *HbeAg----------0.022--------------0.105---------------Non-Reactive *Anti-Hbe-------0.042--------------0.895----------------Reactive *Anti-Hbc Igm--0.011---------------0.105----------------Non-Reactive *Anti-HAV Igm--0.021--------------0.414----------------Non-Reactive

What drug can you recommend me to suppress the virus? I need to lower my viral count because it is required for employment abroad, my HbsAg should be 0.06 or below. Does I have the possibility to be in a lower count in few months? I am not taking any alcohol or drug except felodipine 5mg daily for my hypertension, Im 40yo. Thanks, Emil.

Response from Dr. McGovern

You need to have testing for HBV DNA - if there is no virus in your blood you may have inactive infection.
