 You will need testing again at six months to determine if your HBsAg is still positive, which would imply chronic infection. We cannot tell by lab tests alone how long you have had your infection. Another helpful test would be a HBcore Antibody. If that antibody was an IgM antibody, then you just got infected. However, in that case I would have expected your liver function tests to be significantly abnormal and you might have some symptoms of hepatitis. If the antibody is IgG, then this is more consistent with chronic infection. You should also have testing of HBV DNA. | ||||||||
