| hiv/hcv coinfection window period Jan 3, 2008 What is the window perion for potential exposure? I was stuck with a needle by an iv drug user and have had many symptoms and two tests which came back neg for hcv & hiv. One @ 30 days & another @ 12 weeks/ 3 months per cdc guidlines. Is it conclusive? Dr.Bob said i was crazy/medhel said i'm crazy, but i still think somethings up..please give me your opinion on this. |

After a potential exposure, the CDC usually recommends testing out til 6 months. The extent of your exposure will depend on several things including the amount of blood on the needle, the size of the needle etc. You will want to discuss this further with your own physician who knows more about the circumstances of your exposure. | |||||||||
