hiv hep b,c Jan 3, 2008 hi iv asked a question recently regarding coinfection i dont think asked the right question,here it is if i were coinfected with hiv and either hep b or c would the hiv take longer than 3 months to show in a blood test so does this coinfection affect hiv showing in a blood test? thank you very much. |

 The CDC recommends testing for HIV up to six months after exposure. If the patient also gets newly infected with hepatitis C at the time of exposure, they should have another test for HIV at 12 months in case the acute HCV infection delays seroconversion. This is extremely rare. | ||||||||
