Question re: HB Core AB, Total Nov 18, 2007 Dr. MCGovern, I recently had a Hepatitis Panel done and need assitance with understanding my results. My Hepatitis A Antibody, IgM: negative; Hepatitis B Core Antibody, IgM: (negative); Hepatitis B Surface Ag Scr, Reflex Confirmation/Hep B Surface Ag Screen: Negative; Hepatitis C Antibody: Negative; however, the HB Core AB was reactive although the HBB Core AB (IGM) was non-reactive. What is the significance of the reactive HB Core AB, total? I am worried and would greatly value your input to understand what the results mean. Thanks. |

 You have an isolated hepatitis B core antibody. If you have no risk factors for hepatitis B, this is probably a false positive. You should discuss with your doctor further. | ||||||||
