|affect of HVC on kidney
Oct 22, 2007
My 60 year old mother just discovered she has hep c. She started treatment a month ago even though she could have started it sooner but her doctor told her to wait because she had just done a laser treatment to breakdown kidney stones her her left kidney. He said that the tissue was sensitive and the medication of HVC weakens the body's ability to create new tissue. She is going to have the same procedure done for her right kidney stones. are the risks too high to do so or can she get the laser done while she is on pegasys and copegasys?
Response from Dr. McGovern
It will depend on whether or not she has treatment related side effects such as low platelets for example. She will need blood monitoring before she has her procedure.
