Hi Dr. McGovern

What can you get from a HBV DNA test? What is the acceptable result? What does it mean if the virus is in your blood? If it is, what other test is needed? Do I need a medication? If it is not, is it safe to say that i'm normal?

Response from Dr. McGovern

HBV virus in your blood means the infection is active. Your doctor will need to decide if your liver disease is active and whether you need therapy.

viramune/truvada combo
total Hbc IgG
