Hello. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

My question is this. How likely would a Hepatitis B or C outbreak be in a gym or health club? Someone bled here on some equipment. It was cleaned by someone else. I have been overly careful since and have been healthy. However a few co workers recently have been slightly ill. Could be change in season however. We just work front desk, but share phones, computers and so on.

Also, I got a small cut when changing the paper towels in the paper towel dispenser in the mens room. Is this a low risk for contracting Hepatitis B or C? I washed my hands well after. Thank you!

Response from Dr. McGovern

Transmission of HBV and HCV requires blood to blood exposure so I wouldn't worry about this.
