I have hep A Ab ,IGM Negative,HBs AG Screen negative,Hep B core,Igm positive .what does this all mean?
| Response from Dr. McGovern
You probably had hepatitis A in the past.
However, the Hep B core IgM is positive and that means current active new infection. You will definitely need follow-up of your hepatitis B status over time to be certain you cleared your infection. You should have had liver function tests also and these will need monitoring. If you develop more symptoms like right upper quadrant pain in your belly, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dark urine, you should call your doctor.
If you live with other people in your household or have a sexual partner, they should also receive protective immunizations. Discuss this with your doctor.
You should also be tested for Hepatitis C and HIV.
