|Donated blood here is the reuslts what to do next?
Sep 17, 2007
my father in law tried to donate blood and his results came back hepatitis b core antibodies pos., HBsAB positive, and HBsAG negative. He doesn't have a regular doctor should he be tested by a regular doctor or just keep results for reference later in case his status changes?
Response from Dr. McGovern
His profile shows past exposure to hepatitis B but he cleared the infection. The blood bank has strict rules that even though he cleared the infection, they cannot take his donated blood.
He is not at risk for chronic liver disease.
