need your expert opinion
Sep 9, 2007

my last dna result March2007 was 877 iu/ml, HBaAg(+) =1743,cut off value = 1, HBeAg(+) = 0.159, ,cut off value = 1, SGPT = 47.5, ref value = 10-40,

last sept1,2007 HBaAg(+) =1003,cut off value = 1, HBeAg(+) = 0.160, ,cut off value = 1, SGPT = 43.0, ref value = 10-40,

I saw a change in my HBaAg result which decline fr. 1743 to 1003, is this an indication that I am doing well? I'm taking only Milk Thistle bec. my doctor told me that i dont this treatment.

I need your expert opinion about this, thank you in advance...God Bless

Response from Dr. McGovern

Your HBV DNA level is quite low and your minimally elevated liver function tests are reassuring. I would not pursue treatment at present, but would certainly pursue further follow up of your liver function tests.

I am unaware of any data suggesting benefit of milk thistle for hepatitis B.
