Hepatitis prognosis Aug 8, 2007 I've had my tests last February 2007:HBsAg positive,HBeAg negative,HBc IGM negative,SGPT reactive. I've read that this was due to a recent exposure & that this may just be acute Hepa B. But I took the HBV-DNA, & positive(10M IU/ml),so I was bothered that I am already chronic? I've read that chronic Hepa B can't really be treated. I'm just 30y/o & I'm applying work abroad( & I should be cleared on this) so this really depresses me. I'm cleared w/ this from my last test(2001) so is there still a possibility I'm still acute? |

 Since your IgM is nonreactive, you do not have acute infection. I would follow your liver function tests serially; I would have your e antibody checked; I would follow your HBV DNA level. If your liver function tests remain abnormal and you have persistent virus in your blood, I would consider a liver biopsy. | ||||||||
