| HBV DNA Jul 4, 2007 My wife (age 30) just got her HBV DNA and it shows 17,857,100 IU/ML, and 999,997,60 COPY/ML. Her SGOT & SGPT are both 16, and GGTP is 14 and AFP is 2.3. How concern should we be? Is this something that can be treated? Will this become liver cancer? We are very scare, please help. Many Thanks, Kurt |

Response from Dr. McGovern
Your wife will need further testing of Hepatitis B e antigen and antibody and serial monitoring of these tests. If she is still viremic in six months, consideration of a liver biopsy may be suggested. There are excellent therapies for HBV now if your wife needs treatment. You should be checked as well.If negative, get vaccinated. | |||||||||
