Hep B Panel Results
Jul 4, 2007
Hi, I received all of the follwing tests as "non-reactive": Hep B Core AB Total Hep BE Antigen Hep BE Antibody Hep B Surface Antibody (Quant) <5 Only "reactive" was Hep B Surface Antigen w/ confirmation.
I know this "reactive" means that I have the virus, but was wondering if my chances were better that I was a carrier?
I was vaccinated for Hep B in September 2005, so I am a bit perplexed where I may have been infected as I have no lifestyle factors. I do not have an appt. with a GI until a week and am worried about these results from research on the internet.

Your results are somewhat confusing since a carrier should also have a reactive HB core antibody. Your serologies will definitely need repeating since they do not fit any logical pattern right now. If you told me you were at risk, I would also suggest a core IgM to make certain you weren't recently infected. However, this does not seem to be the case. I would also check a HBV DNA on your next blood testing.
I suspect this will end up being nothing based on lack of risk.
