Viral Load
May 25, 2007

Twice my doctor has had blood sent to labs looking for quantitative results and the lab keeps sending reports back with results 1A what does that mean in numbers? Is there a table that can tell me what 1A is equal to?. Thank you

Response from Dr. McGovern

No the wrong test is going out. 1A is your genotype. Viral load is a measurement for the number of viruses in your bloodstream.

Your physician should speak to the laboratory supervisor to straighten this problem out.
