Am I a Hepa B Carrier? May 19, 2007 Hello, Dr. McGovern! I recently donated blood. About two weeks later, I received a letter from the United Blood services, saying, "Your test result for antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) was abnormal. The specifics were as follows: HBsAg--Non-reactive HBsAg Netralization Confirmatory Test--N/A Anti-HBc--Reactive What must I do to make sure that I am not a carrier or I cease to be one? Thank you. |

 You are not a carrier because your surface antigen is non-reactive. You probably have an isolated core antibody, which usually means a false positive if you have no risk factors. Would follow up with your own personal physician for further testing and reassurance. | ||||||||
