There are several new treatments that are in trials right now for hepatitis C.
The one which is very far along is a new protease inhibitor by Vertex Pharmaceuticals. There is also a protease inhibitor being studied by Schering Plough and Roche. In addition, there is a polymerase inhibitor by Idenix. Also new formulations of interferon called albuferon. None are ready for the market yet - all are still in clinical trials, but there is clearly progress in this exciting area.
There will be much more information available after the next liver meeting (AASLD) in November 2007.
