Your wife is a chronic carrier of hepatitis B determined by the surface antigen positivity. However, I cannot tell if her disease is active until she has testing of her HBV DNA. If there is no virus in her blood she is inactive. If there is virus, she is at risk for liver disease and then needs a biopsy. | |||||||||
