Dirty Needle!!! It is possible?
Apr 9, 2001

If I was poked with a dirty EMG needle 2 minutes after it was used on another person, what are my chances of being infected, do emg needles carry enough blood on them to infect another person, (EMG) needles are solid, and DR. Im afraid My Dr, has done this to me, I asked him right after if the needle was dirty, he said no! Isn't it mandatory that he tells the patient if he has made a mistake.?????? Please hurry, Im worried sick??? P.S. How much and how long does the Virus stay alive. Ive been tested 2 months since, Everything came back negative... should I be worried?

Response from Dr. Dieterich

Generally speaking, solid needles are much less risky than hollow bore ones. I would recommend one more HIV test 6 months after the original stick. That is a low risk exposure. Good luck! DTD
