Response from Dr. McGovern
Your brother has chronic hepatitis B. His physician may want to get a liver biopsy to determine if it is necessary to be treated. If the biopsy does show liver disease, there are several different treatments available now including entecavir, telbivudine, lamivudine, pegylated interferon, and adefovir.
