|Spontaneous Clearence of HVC
Nov 3, 2006
I had Hep C, however I spontaneously cleared the virus. I just have the antibodies. I don't know when I contracted HEP C I am not a drug user, however I had a couple of surgeries before 1992 when they didn't screen for hep c. I had intercourse with a man, who was very thin, he took off his condom, without me knowing until after the act was done. After that I had flu like symptoms, and after that 5 months later I was hospitalized with a severe case of sinusitis, and pharngyitis I responded to the antibiotics. I have been well for six years, and I had a blood test with wbc differential that was totally normal. My question is could he have given me HPC or HIV. Also how long does it take for HIV to attack the white blood cells? I am scared to death to take the test.

The fact that you cleared the HCV is terrific. Yes you could have gotten HCV from blood before July 1992 when the blood supply was then routinely tested.
As for HIV, I would just get tested to relieve your anxiety. It is obviously still on your mind. Also, the CDC now recommends HIV testing as part of routine primary care. Just ask your doctor.
