Response from Dr. McGovern
I am concerned that you are describing a person who has end-stage liver disease: Cirrhosis (advanced scarring) with complications of disease (ascites, or fluid in his belly). You may want to ask further questions as to whether your husband is a candidate for a liver transplant. That will depend on multiple factors. Make certain that any new medications are discussed with your liver specialist. I would also have your husband avoid all alcohol. | |||||||||
