| HCV False Positive Oct 9, 2006 Hello Doctor, I wrote month ago about a possible antibody false positive. Thank you for your quick response to my initial question. As is it turns out, it was a false positive after completing another RNA and RIBA test!!! My question now is, could I have another disease that could have cause the false positive antibody result? I read in my research that HIV could cause a false positive, but I tested negative for HIV as well. Now, whenever I feel sick, I am starting to believe I have a different disease. Please help me clarify my situation. Thanks again for your time. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
The answer is that no test is 100 percent accurate. I would not spend one more minute worrying about your HCV false positive test. Best regards. | |||||||||
