| high bilirubin levels Oct 9, 2006 Dear Dr., On 21st January you had replied to my query regarding my high bilirubin levels. Then it was 2.1.Than only indirect as found high and bilirubin level was shown as 1.9.Yesterday,i.e.on 6th October again my bilirubin shows a high reading of 2.4 with both direct and indirect high. What could be causing this?I am immunized against HEP-A and B almost 10 years ago. My IgG levels for both these are high as detected this year January when Bilirubin was 2.1.My sonogram suggests 3 small gall-bladder polyps. Please advise. Thanks, |

Response from Dr. McGovern
You should speak to your physician about this further since it is obviously causing you distress. You may have something called "Gilbert's syndrome" where the bilirubin total may be minimally elevated (as in your case) with the indirect greater than the direct fraction. This is completely benign and unimportant. However, this will need to be discussed with your physician and any other concerns. | |||||||||
