hep b immunity
Aug 12, 2006

I am a healthcare worker who was vaccination approx 5 years ago for hep b. I had a good repsonse at the time (above 100). I recently had some blood on my hand from hep b carrier where i had a cut. A blood test after this showed i now have weak immunity from my vaccines - am i therefore at risk? Thanks

Response from Dr. McGovern

As a healthcare worker, it is reasonable to take a booster shot which will get your titers where you want them from another potential exposure.

The data also show that even when your titers are low, you do have some protection. Even those who get infected have very mild disease and almost always clear.
