I recently found out my friend's mother has hep c from needle use long time ago. Before this we have shared cigarettes and drinks from time to time. All I can think about now is whether I am at risk for getting it.I am mostly concerned because at one point I had a cold sore on the corner of my mouth at one of those times. It wasn't bleeding or anything, but I am stuck with the what if possibility and am really scared. Can you please help and advise me if i am at risk or not.Thank you so much

HCV is transmitted through blood contact. It is not shared by kissing or hugging. We do not recommend sharing razors or drinking glasses; however, there are no clear data that support that these routes are effective. Most people get HCV through injection drug use or occasionally through sex.
I don't see any reason to get tested.
