 Your daughter has an isolated Hepatitis B core antibody. There are three potential causes for this pattern: 1. It is a false positive 2. She has acute hepatitis B 3. She had hepatitis B in the past and has lost surface antibody. Based on her age #3 doesn't make sense. I would suspect that she has a false positive, but I would like to get another round of tests including a hepatitis B core IgM and IgG and a surface antibody. However, even is she did have acute hepatitis B, she has already cleared her surface antigen, which means that she is not chronically infected patient. Hope this helps. | ||||||||
