|how long can my brother live with aids?
May 27, 2006
My brother is 46 years old. He has been drug free for five years, however, his doctor has just told him he has aids. He already has the symptoms of thrush, nigh sweats, fever, weight loss of about 45 pounds, weakness, low blood volume, and many other problems. How long can we expect him to survive this disease? He is now seeing a great doctor who has him on his medicine. Please answer this question for his family. We are losing our minds with worry for him. Thank you

Please refer any further HIV questions to the HIV forum.
Your brother will do extremely well if he takes his HIV medications -every dose. However, the next six months may be problematic if he develops any other infections. I would just do your best to support him through taking all the medications.
