Positive Core Antibody
Apr 13, 2006

I have been diagnosed as surface antigen negative, surface antibodies negative, core antibodies positive.

I have been vaccinated and had antibodies at one point (tested postive for surface antibodies after my vaccination), but now surface antibodies are negative.

My doctor is not sure if I am a chronic carrier of HBV. My boyfriend has not been vaccinated and has tested negative for surface antigen, surface antibodies, and core antibody.

What should I do next to find out if I am a carrier?

thanks

Response from Dr. McGovern

You are definitely not a carrier because your surface antigen is negative.

I would not get further testing.
