Oct 15, 2005
First i congratulate u for the yeomen service u are doing.
I am 22 years old and i got Hep B 3 years back. I am still tested positive for surface and core antigen. Can i marry a healthy normal girl with this? Please advice as i lova a girl and i want to marry her as her parents are hurrying up for marriage. Can we live a normal life like everybody else and have kids ? I am eagerly waiting for ur advice and response. Thanks in advance.

Your girlfriend should simply get vaccinated against hepatitis B and then get surface antibody testing to be certain the vaccine worked. Then she will be well protected against the virus.
The only way she could pass on hepatitis B to her baby is only if she were chronically infected herself. Even then, the risk is very low since the baby would undergo vaccination against hepatitis B at delivery and in early infancy - which is very effective.
