HepB DNA Test Sep 25, 2005 After 20 years of "kidney infections" (aver.4x year) my doctor ordered a chronic HepB panel. Results: Surface Antigen - negative. Surface and core antibodies - both positive. ALT is still within normal range but goes up a few points with each "flare." HBV DNA QNT 450 (ref range <100) and HBV DNA PCR QNT 791 ^^^copies/ml. My symptoms certainly point to Chronic HepB but the specialist is still on the fence. Should I demand a lv biopsy? Thank You! |

 If your hepatitis B surface antigen was negative I would not have ordered a DNA test. I think there is some problem with the testing. I would not order a liver biopsy right now unless abnormal liver function tests persisted. Your doctor can discuss the results with the laboratory performing them to discuss the discrepancies between the results, which do not fit together. | ||||||||
