Also, if a person's anti-HBs declines to undetectable levels but is still anti-HBc positive and HBsAg negative, is this person still immune from hepatitis B? Also, can a person have HBV DNA in the liver and not in the blood? |

 All great questions. Yes there is sometimes a low level of DNA after a resolved HBV infection, but not usually if it resolves in the first 6 months of it. If you are core antibody positive you should be protected from HBV and dont need vaccine. Some studies have shown that HBV DNA can be found on liver biopsy when negative in serum. That actually makes sense, if you consider that HBV integrates into the genome. DTD | ||||||||
