Very strange blood test results Jun 22, 2005 Dear doctor, I just have the Hepatitis B test. I am very confused and worried about the results. It came out that: 1)hepatitis B surface antigen NEGATIVE. 2)hepatitis B core AB-total repeatedly POSITIVE. 3)hepatitis B AB-IGM NEGATIVE 4)hepatitis B surface antibody NEGATIVE. what do they mean? I think these are very strange combinations. Someone told me that Core AB-IGM negative means I am not recently infected, But if I was infected long time ago and got cleared, then the Hep B surface AntiBody should be possitive. Right? Also my hepatits A test results are antiBody-total possitve, and antiBody-IGM is negative. Please help, thank you so much! Patrick |

 It means that you have had both hepatitis A and B and gotten better and cleared both! Congratulations! Dont worry if you have the core antibody, then you should be protected from further infection with either virus. Great news! Stay well! DTD | ||||||||
