|hep b help
May 28, 2005
hi, will a person immunised against hep b, have the same test result as a person who has overcome the infection. i was immunised 9 months ago after exposure, but my doctor told me recently when i had a test, that it was negative. i thought from immunisation you show signs of infection in the blood test. advise please. i have also swollen glands on the neck. could this be from hepatitis or some autoimmune disorder.

Sometimes patients are immunized against hepatitis B but don't seroconvert. If the vaccine worked, your blood should show a postive hepatitis B surface antibody.
If it didn't work, boosting with more vaccine can often help to lead to seroconversion.
I would talk with your provider about boosting and about the glands in your neck. Dr. McGovern
