saliva in blood from sharing a joint (marijuana)
Apr 10, 2005
Hello Doctors, I remember about 9 or 10 years ago smoking a joint with a couple people I did not really know. I can recall at one time having a cut on my fingertip and getting someone's saliva in it after grabbing the joint. I can remember another time when I had bit a piece of loose skin off my upper lip, leaving it not bleeding, but chaffed and then sharing a joint with a couple strangers again. Can someone's saliva infect me by getting in a cut? Am I being unjustifiably worried? This was 10 years ago and I am very healthy, I catch a cold maybe once every 2 years, and have been only with my wife for the past 14 years. We never thought to get tested back then because we both never had unprotected sex before. Thanks for any help, Dwight

I think that it is always reasonable to get baseline testing to know for sure about any possible risks in the past. Then continue with safe practises once you get hopefully negative results.
