Hep B Blood result
Feb 26, 2005

I just got my blood result back. I don't know what it means: HBsAg Confirmation Positive Hep Be Ag Negative Hep B Core Ab, IgM Negative Hep B Core Ab, Tot Positive Hep Be AB Positive Hep B Surface Ab <3.0 mIU/mL

Does this mean i'm acute or chronic Hep B? Am I a carrier? I'm very confuse.

Thanks,

Response from Dr. McGovern

You are a chronic carrier of hepatitis B. However, I cannot tell you how active your disease is until you have your virus checked with a Hepatitis B DNA. This will let us know if you have virus in your bloodstream.
