| life after HCV treatment Jan 9, 2005 Hello, since finishing tx a year ago (hcv 1a) and clearing the virus,i feel as if I've been thrown to the wolves, no further check ups or blood test, but even more importantly my dr. has said nothing about life after tx, what are the rules to follow, diet, alcohol, etc. |

Response from Dr. Pierone
You should have a repeat HCV RNA to make sure that you have a sustained virologic response to therapy. If so, the long term prognosis is excellent and in most cases the liver regenerates and fibrosis improves. The rules (diet and alcohol) depend on what you liver status was before treatment (cirrhosis or not?) and whether you do have a sustained response. You should be able to get these answers, if not, you should get a second opinion. Good luck. | |||||||||
