| mosquito bite? Jan 1, 2005 I found blood on my foot from a mosquito that died on my foot. My question is, can i get any type of hepatitis from that? I feel that I am being paranoid because everybody gets bit from mosquitos but i have never thought about it until now. I am desperate for your answer because I have a child and I don't want to give it to her and I don't know I touched her with the blood not knowing it was on me. |

Response from Dr. McGovern
Mosquitoes can transmit various infections like malaria and west nile virus. The infections vary depending on where you live. However, hepatitis viruses like hepatitis A, B, or C are not transmitted by mosquitos. I would not worry about any potential transmissions to your child. Dr. McGovern | |||||||||
