|Precore Hep B w/ chest pain
Nov 21, 2004
About 5 months ago I developed a rapid pulse and left side chest discomfort. It turns out I have precore mutant Hepatitis B.
Liver function tests were normal as of two months ago with low viral levels. Stress test echocardiogram was also normal. I am due to follow up in a few weeks, and the chest pain is still present and quite worrying.
Any suggestions for follow up? It has been a very difficult five months. Would Hepsera help?
Response from Dr. McGovern
I would not attribute your chest pain symptoms to hepatitis B and would discuss those symptoms right away with your doctor.
As for your hepatitis B - I would certainly get follow-up testing over time so your doctor can decide when the right time for treatment may be. With normal liver function tests I wouldn't treat right now. Dr. McGovern
