Response from Dr. Rodriguez-Torres
HCV is a blood borne disease that is usually asymtomatic. The incidence is around 1.8% in the U.S.Around 30%of all cases can develop significant liver disease and cirrhosis. There is no vaccine, but treatment and cure is posible. HBV is also a blood borne virus but most of the patients clar the virus after acute infection and less than 3% develop chronic disease. There is treatment ,but also a vaccine that can prevent infection. | |||||||||
