follow up about children? Oct 9, 2004 IN follow up to your answer regarding children touching things. SO you are saying that even if someone was to touch a surface (toilet) that had blood on it and even possibly had a little knick in the skiin..... the transmission is still low? Do these viruses HCV and HIV die pretty quick on surfaces? Thank you for your reply...... I just want to relax in public places and not worry about my children soo much! Thanks. |

 Transmission of hepatitis C is only well-established for risks like intravenous drug use, blood transfusions (in the past when the blood supply wasn't safe), dialysis patients, health care workers with needlestick exposures and uncommonly, with sexual transmission. Household contacts of HCV patients do not get hepatitis C through casual contact. It is not recommended to share toothbrushes or razors with hepatitis C patients. Dr. McGovern | ||||||||
