| Elevated enzymes...meds Oct 6, 2004 Dr. Dieterich, Many thanks for this terrific forum. Any significance to an ALT that is 60 (highest of normal lab range being 40)?I also have slightly high LDH and very low normal bilirubin. I would appreciate your thoughts...and can I safely be taking 1,500 mg. every day, long term, of Tylenol, which I need for bad pain (ibuprofen etc. aren't good for me due to fact that I easily get stomach upset and nausea). Fyi, my CD4 is >600 and HIV VL <10,000. Many thanks. |

Response from Dr. Dieterich
That is a lot of Tylenol! I would think about using Celebrex or Bextra for the pain, they are easier on the stomach. You also need to be tested for hepatitis A, B and C and vaccinated if you are negative for A and B. There are other things too that can be an issue, so you need a liver consult! Good luck!
