Aug 14, 2004
i have just been told that i have tested positive for hepatitus B. i have had the hepatitus B vaccine 2 years ago and was wondering if it is a alive vaccine wich can effect your results. would be very greatful for a reply as i dont really know what to do?
Response from Dr. McGovern
If your surface antibody test is the only positive test, then that would go along with prior immunization.
If your core antibody and surface antibody are positive, then that would mean you were infected in the past.
You can send me your exact lab results if this information is still confusing.
